Nationwide, Nishinomiya came in 8th. And believe it or not, it’s No. 1 in Hyogo Prefecture!
What is the National Local Government DX Promotion Ranking?
It compares how far each local government has progressed with digitalization. It’s compiled by Jiji Research Institute, an organization affiliated with Jiji Press
The ranking is based on the following five criteria:
- Progress in digitalization
- Improvements to administrative services
- Security measures
- Support for people who have trouble using digital tools
- Status of My Number Card issuance
Come to think of it, the city had something like this on its website back in October 2021.
It feels like the city has been saying, “We’re going to work hard on DX!”
And in fact, you can now do things like reserve garbage collection through LINE, receive disaster information, and use smart online applications.
Here’s how the rankings look for Hyogo Prefecture only:

I’d say Nishinomiya is doing pretty well.

Finally
In the prefectural ranking of all 47 prefectures, Hyogo is 32nd, which isn’t especially high, but it feels like Nishinomiya is pulling it upward.
