In a Netorabo Research Team poll asking “Which JR Kobe Line station name do you think sounds cool?”, “Sakura-Shukugawa Station” came in first.
(This tip was provided by Iroha, a Nishitsu supporter. Thank you!)
Here it is ↓
It’s a newer station that opened on March 18, 2007.
“Sakura” and “Shukugawa” really do make a nice name, don’t they? There was even a time when the approaching-train melody was Kobukuro’s “Sakura.”
Some People Call Sakura-Shukugawa Station “Sakushuku”
Here are the results from a Nishitsu survey we did before asking, “What do you call Sakura-Shukugawa?” We got 169 responses.

One in ten people were in the “Sakushuku” camp. Isn’t that surprising?
And this ↓

It’s not three-dimensional.

It’s flat.
I guess there really is something to it being called cool.
Finally
By the way, second and third place went to “Asagiri Station” and “Hoden Station,” which felt like a totally different kind of cool. Within Nishinomiya City, “Koshienguchi Station” ranked 22nd, and “Nishinomiya Station” ranked 32nd.
Also, before this station was built, its provisional name was apparently “JR Shukugawa Station,” so if it had stayed that way, it might not have taken first place this time.
