It looks like “Imazu Lighthouse” will be relocated in November 2023.
(This information was provided by Iroha, a Nishitsu supporter. Thank you!)
Here it is↓

Apparently, it will be relocated during the first week of November.
Where Imazu Lighthouse is moving
The new location will be about 170 meters southwest of its current site, across the Shinkawa River and Imazu Port.

Probably around here↓
Its current location↓

Imazu Lighthouse is the oldest active wooden lighthouse in Japan. The official website here is really nice
It was built in 1810 and is designated as an Important Tangible Cultural Property of Nishinomiya City.
The floodgate behind it was completed in December 2021 to help reduce flood damage from the largest expected class of tsunami.
Apparently, its name is “Shinkawa Floodgate.” I had no idea~

On top of that, the seawall and drainage facilities are also scheduled to be completed by the end of 2026.

Thanks to these measures, the flooded area around here will apparently be reduced by as much as 90%. Modern disaster prevention facilities are amazing.
Come to think of it, they were also building some incredible disaster prevention facilities underground along the Tsutogawa River.
Lastly
The current Imazu Lighthouse is apparently set to be taken out of service at 7:00 p.m. on August 10, and relocation work will begin during the fourth week of August. I’m curious to see what the scenery around Imazu Lighthouse will look like in its new location~.
