Hyogo Prefecture appears to be selling “Habatan Pay+,” a value-packed premium digital gift certificate that can be used at supermarkets, retail stores, and more.

As we mentioned last time, one 5,000 yen digital gift certificate can be used as 6,250 yen worth through an app called “Habatan Pay+.”
In addition, families raising children age 18 or younger can use it as 7,500 yen worth.
The general category is limited to 4 units per person.
The child-rearing support category is limited to 2 units per household.
In other words, you can receive 5,000 yen worth as a premium bonus.
The general category is per person, not per household, so if a family of three each has a Habatan Pay+ account, they can buy up to 12 units total, 3 people × 4 units, saving 15,000 yen. That’s pretty amazing.
Prices have been going up all over, after all!
To use this benefit, you’ll need the smartphone app. Links are available on the official page. The low rating seems to have been due to registration issues common with early versions, but those have now been resolved.

The basic flow is like this:
- Download the app
- Register with your email address and password
- Verify by SMS using your mobile phone number
- Apply to purchase through the app
It’s a simple registration process.
The application period runs until Thursday, August 24 at 5:00 p.m.
