“Grave of the Fireflies” is a work set in Kobe and Nishinomiya, based on author Akiyuki Nosaka’s wartime experiences.
In this performance, Musical Poem “Grave of the Fireflies”, an orchestral performance by the Hyogo Performing Arts Center Orchestra and readings by popular voice actors will be accompanied by famous scenes from the animated film “Grave of the Fireflies” projected onto a screen on stage, synchronized with the progression of the story.

Yui Ishikawa
The role of younger sister Setsuko will be read by Yui Ishikawa, one of the voice actors bringing color to the next generation of anime.
She is the voice actor known for playing “Mikasa Ackerman” in “Attack on Titan”!!
Her other roles include:
- Violet Evergarden in “Violet Evergarden”
- Cure Papaya / Minori Ichinose in “Tropical-Rouge! Pretty Cure”
and more.
Sho Hayami
Sho Hayami, a leading figure in today’s voice acting world, will appear as older brother Seita.
He has appeared in many works across voice acting, animation, foreign films, commercials, corporate narration, and more.
Apparently, he has also voiced “Popuko” from “Pop Team Epic”, an anime work by Bukubu Okawa, a manga artist from Nishinomiya!

I’m curious to see how the world of Grave of the Fireflies will be expressed through a combination of famous scenes from the film, orchestral performance, and live readings. Personally, since Yui Ishikawa, the voice actor for “Mikasa Ackerman,” will be appearing, I’m secretly hoping we might get to hear a Mikasa line or two. Though I’m pretty sure that won’t happen～～
