On Sunday, August 27, we went to check out the nagashi somen event at Ueda Park, so here’s our report.
(Fukuchan, Iroha, Hamaamu, and Sasako from the Nishitsu supporters were there too.)
Here’s why we went↓

What’s going to flow?Wait, isn’t it somen!?😳
That had us curious.
Ueda Park is here on the map↓
The address is

A little after 4 p.m., when the event had just started.

In front of Ueda Park, some men in yellow-green shirts were directing traffic very carefully.

We arrived pretty much on time, but wow, there were already so many people!!

As we stood near the reception area, a woman kindly called out, “Come on in~”

We got “somen dipping sauce” and “disposable chopsticks”!

The kids waiting for the nagashi somen looked like they were having so much fun~. Was it flowing nonstop??

“Whoa!! He’s holding the somen they’re going to send down!!!”Obvious, sure, but still exciting lol

Here it comes~~~~~!!

It’s a battle for the somen~~~~!!!

The Naruo Higashi baseball boys joined in too!

Got the somen~~~~~~!!
And then, something strange came floating down~~~

A cherry tomato came flowing down~~~~

And what’s this?? A quail egg came too~. Super hard to grab!

A jelly that looks exactly like an egg yolk in this picture.

Some dagashi-style pudding came floating down too

Cucumbers apparently came down too

The kids were absolutely loving it~~~.

Ueda Park had been holding this “nagashi somen” event for about 20 years, but apparently it had been canceled throughout the COVID period.

The kids had apparently been strongly asking them to “please bring back nagashi somen,” and this time, the event finally made its comeback~.

This time the chute for the nagashi somen was made from pipe, but before COVID, they apparently used to go to the mountains and bring back bamboo for it. Sounds so refreshing~.

Still, they were properly sending down water chilled with plenty of ice like this. It wasn’t extremely cold, but it was totally fine~~

Here’s the final stop for the nagashi somen. It was collected properly.

It must have become one of the kids’ best summer memories~.
Oh, right.

Momotaro came floating down too
