Nomura Securities by Nishikita Park Is Moving So We Asked What Will Happen to the Haruhi Sacred Site Plaque

It looks like Nomura Securities in front of Nishikita Park is relocating.

Today, September 22, is its final day here, and from September 25 it looks like it will be moving to the Plus Wing at Gardens.

What’s around Nomura Securities

Across the street is Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi Station, and Nishikita Park is right in front. It’s the meeting place for Haruhi Suzumiya and the SOS Brigade.

If you go this way, you’ll head toward Nishikita Shotengai, a shopping street packed with restaurants like Fujiya and KFC.

If you go in the opposite direction, you’ll find Jankara, Nikuju Gyoza no Dandadan, and more. If you keep going along the railway tracks, you’ll come out near the Imazu West Line.

The Haruhi sacred-site certification plaque is gone

The Haruhi sacred-site certification plaque that used to be in front of Nomura Securities is gone.

Since Hanshin won the championship, I kind of thought it had been moved away temporarily just in case, but apparently that wasn’t it.

Because Nomura Securities is relocating, they apparently wondered, “What should we do with this?(No idea if they actually said that, lol)” and returned it to Nishinomiya City.

For those who don’t know about this plaque, Nishinomiya City received it after being certified by Anime Tourism as a sacred site for “The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan” in the 2018 edition of “88 Japanese Anime Spots Worth Visiting,” and for both “The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan” and “The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya” in the 2019 edition.

Nishinomiya City’s Urban Brand Promotion Division apparently thought, “If we’re going to put it somewhere, it should be somewhere good!(No idea if they actually said that, lol)” So it was placed in the show window of the Nishinomiya Branch of Nomura Securities, as a spot closely connected to Haruhi.

It has now been returned to Nishinomiya City. We asked the Urban Brand Promotion Division what will happen to it, and they said they are currently making arrangements because they want to place it somewhere nearby that has a strong connection to the series.
