Around 5 p.m. today, 3/21, I went to check out the cherry blossoms in Shukugawa.

Here ↓

They’re not blooming.
Yesterday brought a spring storm. The winds were about as strong as a typhoon, so I wondered if the blossoms had been blown away, but…

They’re fine
They were still buds.

The cherry trees in front of the station also looked like they were still in bud, and hadn’t bloomed yet.

This time, I went to the area between Hankyu Shukugawa Station and the JR tracks.

Oh. Some of them are blooming a little.

This one is starting to bloom!!

Oh. There was a variety along the JR line with a decent number of blossoms.

Are they blooming downward? They’re kind of cute cherry blossoms.
So, I happened to take photos of the ones that were blooming, but…

Most of them looked like this, and were almost not blooming at all.
Oh, and by the way…
In the Japan Weather Association tenki.jp’s 2024 ranking of popular cherry blossom viewing spots in the Kinki region, Shukugawa came in at No. 3~~~!
Finally
Because of the return of colder weather, the cherry blossoms seem to be blooming later than the last forecast. According to the 2024 cherry blossom forecast, Osaka is expected to bloom on 3/25 and Kobe on 3/28, so in Nishinomiya they may start blooming around 3/26 (Tue) to 3/27 (Wed). The best time for full bloom might be around 3/30 (Sat) to 4/7 (Sun).
