Now then, Tani-san, take it away.

The results for the public high school entrance exams (general admissions) were announced on March 19.
Congratulations to all the successful applicants!
The Board of Education has released the exam results, so we’ll share them along with some simple estimates.

As of March 12, the day of the entrance exam, Nishinomiya Kabutoyama High School, Nishinomiya Minami High School, and Nishinomiya Imazu High School all had applicant倍率 below 1.0. However, according to these results, Nishinomiya Kabutoyama High School was the only school where the number of successful applicants fell below the enrollment quota (fill rate: 0.86). This is because applicants for Hyogo Prefectural public high school entrance exams can list a second-choice school.
At Nishinomiya Minami High School and Nishinomiya Imazu High School, the enrollment quotas were filled once students who applied as second-choice applicants and were accepted were included.
So how much of a difference was there between the announced applicant倍率 and the actual applicant倍率?
Using the ratio of second-choice applications to make a simple calculation of the actual倍率, the results are as follows.
Nishinomiya Kita High School and Hyogo Prefectural Nishinomiya High School were only slightly above 1.0 based on the announced倍率, but in reality they appear to have been around 1.3 to 1.4. Also, Nishinomiya Minami High School and Nishinomiya Imazu High School, which had announced applicant倍率 below 1.0, likely had applicants slightly above a 1.0倍率. Nishinomiya Municipal High School and Nishinomiya Municipal Higashi High School are estimated to have seen almost no change from their announced applicant倍率.

The overall applicant倍率 for Hyogo Prefecture was announced as 1.03, but for public high schools in Nishinomiya City, their popularity remains strong, and this year again appears to have been a tough battle with high倍率.
Hyogo Prefecture’s public high schools place a relatively high weight of about 50% on internal school records, making it a system where students’ efforts during junior high school are more likely to be reflected in high school entrance exam results. For those taking the exams next year or later, please use this as a reference and keep working hard in the new school year.
*The effective倍率 used in this article are estimates only and may differ from the actual倍率. Thank you for your understanding.
