A Japanese sake event called “New Retro SAKE Festival” was held at EBISTA Nishinomiya on 3/23.

Shachomi from Nishitsu went to check it out.

There’s something about this retro atmosphere. It’s really nice.

There was a tasting corner like this.

There are all kinds of sets! And they’re cheap too!

I went with the Retro Set (the one where you can drink the 180ml and 60ml servings as hot sake too) and the sake tasting set! It’s Ozeki’s Karatanba

In one corner of the food court, they had retro items like these.

If you took the sake tasting set over here and answered the quiz correctly…

You got a sake cup!

Still, it was really lively! Apparently there were about three times as many customers as on a normal weekend.

Something I want to eat with Japanese sake: sushi. I ended up buying some from Daiki Suisan. (Premium nigiri, 1,380 yen)

Oh, this must be something for making hot sake.

I didn’t know hot sake had this many different names depending on the temperature. A real man goes straight for tobikiri-kan.

So there’s such a thing as a sake thermometer!

Of course, I’m taking the heat all the way up to this point!

Unlike the usual daytime brewery-opening events, EBISTA at night was softly dim, and that atmosphere made it so much fun. I really hope they hold events like this regularly.
