A birdhouse had been attached to a tree in the parking lot at 関寿庵. I kept calling the birdhouse a birdcage💦 Embarrassing

This is unmistakably a birdhouse.
Here’s what it looked like before↓
This tree is actually a cherry tree. At that time (the Sakura Festival on 3/30), there was no birdhouse.
No birds had come yet, but maybe Japanese white-eyes and others might move in.
The azaleas that bloom around this time have nectar too,
and there are also camellias that bloom in winter, whose nectar Japanese white-eyes apparently drink as well.
Cherry trees also get caterpillars around July and August. The parking lot at 関寿庵 could really be called a feeding spot for birds. Still, putting up a birdhouse like this is such a lovely idea.
Maybe by next year or so, Japanese white-eyes will use the birdhouse as a nest. If there’s any new activity, we’ll write about it again. (The photo is from Koto Bairin)
