I picked up a melon, bananas, and tomatoes after the “produce section” at Hanshin Nishinomiya was recently renewed, so I’m going to try them and see what they’re like〜
Just a heads-up: these were all special renewal-opening prices, so they’re special prices you can’t get now〜
The “Melon,” “Bananas,” and “Tomatoes” from Hanshin Nishinomiya

A very nice melonThat netting looks top-class

Remember this melon with the crown mark on it, because it’s a really high-grade one. Of course, it’s from Shizuoka.

Muskmelon 2,150 yen (tax included) Opening price, you can’t eat it at this price anymore. It’s probably around 5,000 yen now
5/16 is the best time to eat it. At Hanshin Nishinomiya, the people at the produce section can write the best-eating date for you〜

I cut it on 5/17. One day past the ideal date. Maybe 5/16 really would’ve been best?!

It’s truly like drinkable juice you eat. You really have to experience this, or you’re missing out in all kinds of ways. The kind of thing that would get you super excited if someone gave it to you

Ripe all the way to the very edge of the rind. You can keep enjoying sweet〜〜 melon right to the last bite. Personally, I recommend one day after the best-eating date. Two days after was also so good it almost made me cry

At first glance, they look like ordinary bananas.
Delicious Bananas 215 yen (tax included) Opening price, you can’t get these at this price anymore either
They had all kinds of bananas for sale, but apparently these are the most popular bananas.
Apparently they’re ready to eat once the black spots(sugar spots) appear, so…

They ended up covered in sugar spots〜〜〜
Time to peel.

They look great. And they’re extra thickAll of these bananas are seriously pretty thick.

They’re sweet, of course, but can you see this chewy, springy texture〜? The red is lipstick. I messed up

志づ華乃 539 yen(tax included)
After melon and bananas, why tomatoes〜〜?
But these are a little different.

It says “sweetness just like fruit”

Honestly, the more I looked at them, the more I started to believe it.
But you know, people often say “fruit tomatoes,” and I figured they’d just be a little sweet or something.

These were sweet even after eating bananas. Sweet. Sorry for doubting you, honestly. These have a sugar content of 11. Apparently they sometimes sell tomatoes with a sugar content of 13 too. If 11 is this sweet, what on earth is 13 like〜 Apparently sweeter than strawberries and about the same as watermelon
There were others too.

We also tried things like mangoes, watermelon with a sugar content of 14, and fruit onions.

Definitely go check out the produce section at Hanshin Nishinomiya〜. Department store food floors really are fun〜Even though this one isn’t underground lol
