Here’s part 3 of our series visiting private junior high schools in Nishinomiya: Nigawa Gakuin Junior and Senior High School〜

Nigawa Gakuin Junior and Senior High School is located almost exactly between Kotoen Station and Nigawa Station on the Imazu Line, about a 6-minute walk from each station. Most students commute by public transportation.
Here it is on the map↓
The address is 2-13-9 Kotoen, Nishinomiya, Hyogo Prefecture.
It’s a Catholic school, but apparently not many incoming students are actually Catholic. Teachers at Nigawa Gakuin Junior and Senior High School say they hope students deepen their learning through their first experience of “seeing the world through Catholicism.”

In fact, as I walked around the campus, many students made eye contact and greeted me. Students are encouraged in daily life to be mindful of “noticing what others would appreciate and acting on it,” and I felt that this may be one result of the school’s Catholic-based education.

Because Nigawa Gakuin does not have an affiliated university, they put a great deal of effort into career and academic guidance. Looking at their university admissions results, you’ll see an impressive lineup of names, including national and public universities such as Osaka University and Kobe University, as well as Kwansei Gakuin, Kansai University, Doshisha, and Ritsumeikan. In addition, they typically secure designated-school recommendation slots from major private universities, including those same Kansai-area schools. However, designated-school recommendations are only available to students in the Cultivation Course.

The school also has well-equipped learning facilities, including a Learning Center for independent study, and it seemed to have a strong support system for motivated students. I felt it was a school where students can study steadily through junior and senior high school on a calm, peaceful campus.
