We received memories from readers about ACTA Nishinomiya’s “Akachan Honpo,” which will close on October 27, 2024, so we’re sharing them here.
Comments from Nishi2 readers for ACTA Nishinomiya’s “Akachan Honpo”
More than 20 years ago, I often came here to buy disposable diapers for my son. Back then there weren’t any drugstores nearby, so this was a really valuable shop. It got very crowded on holidays, so I remember waiting in front of the store shutter before opening. Looking back, even that is a nice memory.

I used to go there a lot when my child was little… So nostalgic. I would always stop by together with Alice.

My first time raising a child… Until then, there weren’t any children’s goods stores nearby, so I used to go all the way to Akachan Honpo in Honmachi, Osaka. Then Akachan Honpo opened in Kitaguchi, and I went there all the time. Now my children are all adults, and I no longer pick up children’s products. I feel nostalgic for the days when I used to browse all kinds of items there.

This is a store that helped us even before my first grandchild was born, so I feel very attached to it. I’m very sad to see it close,

When my older child was 0 years old, we joined the “Crawling Race” held at ACTA’s Akachan Honpo. My child was doing great until halfway through, but another baby made a huge comeback and reached the goal. The applause startled my child, who started crying, and ended up finishing last. Haha. But it’s still a really wonderful memory. The child who cried in that crawling race is already in sixth grade now, so we haven’t been to the store in quite a long time, but I’m very sad it’s closing. We bought almost all our maternity and childbirth supplies there, and even after the birth we came to buy clothes and toys, and bought diapers by the box. We were helped so much. Thank you.

When my daughter lived in Nishinomiya and my grandchild was born, we went there often. We also bought the carp streamers for the baby’s first Boys’ Day festival there.

Ever since my grandchildren were born, we were helped so much, and I always enjoyed buying all sorts of things there.

I used it often when my older child was born… I’ll miss it, and it will be inconvenient for people living north of the Imazu Line…

This is such a shame. They helped us with all three of our children.

I have memories of going there to buy a stroller, baby rack, clothes, and other things when my daughter’s child was born.

About 13 years ago, I used the nursing room at this Akachan Honpo to rest and change diapers. I was able to spend time there comfortably, and it helped soothe my tired body. Thank you for everything back then.

When I was in elementary school, someone bought me a Snoopy towel blanket here, and I’ve been using it for 18 years!

This Akachan Honpo was where my mother bought me my first Sylvanian Families set, and where my grandmother bought me my first Licca-chan doll. It’s sad, but I feel like I’ll always remember that Akachan Honpo used to be here.

When I was little, whenever I went to ACTA’s Akachan Honpo, I always received a balloon. About 23 or 24 years ago. It made me so happy. This was before Gardens had even opened… From clothes to school bags and stationery, we bought everything at Akachan Honpo. They really helped us so much.

The memory that stands out most is choosing baby items with my mother as I prepared for my first childbirth. Even after my child was born, I visited again and again to buy diapers and baby goods, and for events like the crawling race. I can’t even express how much it helped having Akachan Honpo in ACTA, and I still rely on it now. It’s an important place for both my children and me, so if possible, I hope it can stay open. I don’t want it to close. With gratitude.

From buying baby gifts when I was single to shopping for things for my own children, they helped me so much. My children are bigger now, so I only really go there for things like diapers, but it will be inconvenient when it’s gone.

About 12 years ago, I left Nishinomiya and moved to the Kanto area for a job transfer. My son was three and a half at the time. Our shopping at Akachan Honpo began with diapers and baby wipes, and even after moving, we continued using other branches. It’s a nostalgic memory. I happened to see the article and felt sad when I learned the store was closing. Thank you very much.

My children are now in junior high and high school. I fondly remember taking the train with them to choose clothes. Once they grew up, we stopped going, but now that it’s actually closing, I feel sad.

My first grandchild is now 6, and my second grandson is 2 👦 They have allergies too, so the days have been tough, but this store helped us a lot. Thank you.

I often used Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi and went there to buy children’s clothes. The location is convenient, so please bring in Nishimatsuya or Shimamura Baby!

Akachan Honpo helped us tremendously. When I had to take my son to a relative’s wedding, I bought him a very stylish outfit there. Thank you very much.

Finally
Personally, I also have memories of going to Akachan Honpo in Osaka, and I remember buying things like baby wipes in bulk by the box. I think many people went to the store with both nerves and excitement after having a baby. They also held fun events like crawling races. It really is sad to see it close.
