“Shunsuke Daito’s Discovery! Tekuteku Learning,” a segment on “news Runner,” features actor Shunsuke Daito walking around town as a reporter, introducing local charms and lesser-known discoveries.
By the way, last week’s broadcast featured “a cider that has been loved in Koshien for over 100 years”.
This time’s theme is the mysterious ruins of Koshienhama.
I looked into it a bit…
The “remains” of Koshienhama that appear at low tide

At Koshienhama, when the tide goes out, structures that look like ruins emerge from the tidal flats. Their true identity is the remains of the original Hanshin Park from the early Showa era.
The History of Hanshin Park
It began in 1929 as “Koshien Gorakujō” and was renamed “Hama-Koshien Hanshin Park” in 1932. With a zoo, rides, and an aquarium, it was crowded with many visitors at the time. However, in 1943, the land was requisitioned due to the war, and a naval airfield was built there. After the war, the second-generation “Hanshin Park” was rebuilt on the site where “LaLaport Koshien” now stands.
Discovery of the Remains
Professor Takeo Maruyama of Mukogawa Women’s University investigated the walls and lion stone statues visible at low tide, and found that the walls may have been the foundation of an observation deck, while the stone statues may have served as spouts for a bathhouse.
*It was written about in detail in this article here.

Also, it seems that the Japanese candle shop “Matsumoto Shoten” in Imazu will be featured on the program too.
The broadcast is today from 16:45. It will air on Channel 8. If you’re interested, why not check it out? 😄
*Wanko-san, thank you for the information!!
