Fares were raised this October from 230 yen to 240 yen, but they will increase again to 250 yen around next summer to fall.
There may be more fare increases after that
Since the maximum fare will be raised to 310 yen, fares may continue to increase gradually after that.
Why are fares going up?
There seem to be several reasons why fares are increasing.
- Fewer people are using buses due to changes in lifestyles
- There is a shortage of drivers, so working conditions need to be improved
- Fuel costs and other prices are rising
- There is a need to introduce environmentally friendly EV buses
Lastly
It’s a bit tough to see bus fares go up again, but when you hear the reasons, it feels understandable😢 I personally use Hanshin Bus quite often, so I’d like to support them over the long term and hope things gradually change for the better.
