“Building Stroll! Retro Exploration” is a program where actor Zen Kajiwara visits retro buildings that have stood since the Showa era and introduces their history and charm.
Following the previous episode on Nouvelle Koshienguchi, this time Racks Nibankan on the north side of Koshienguchi will be featured🙌

The address is 1-22 Koshienguchi Kitamachi, Nishinomiya City, Hyogo Prefecture.
Racks Nibankan is a brick-style retro building located straight north from the rotary on the north side of Koshienguchi Station. It houses shops such as “Taishu Curry Tamaki” and “Coffee Specialty Shop MUC.”
This building also has a retro look that preserves the atmosphere of the Showa era. The center is an open atrium, with corridors and stairs wrapping around it. There’s even a semi-basement, and the doors and fittings of each shop have plenty of character. It has a charming atmosphere, almost as if time has stopped.

Following the previous episode, this time the setting is the north exit of Koshienguchi Station in Nishinomiya City, Hyogo Prefecture. Located just 50 meters from the station is Racks Nibankan, which opened in 1979, 46 years ago.
Things get off to a rocky start when the mama of a coffee shop that has been operating since the building first opened refuses to be filmed!
Regrouping, they stop by a stylish flower shop that you would never expect from the building’s exterior. The young shop owner is actually a member of the building owner’s family. There’s also the mystery that the building was originally called “Bell Nibankan” when it opened. Kajiwara becomes fascinated by the strange fate of the owner’s family!
He enjoys the owner’s carefully made curry at a hard-working izakaya that serves popular-style curry by day and multinational cuisine by night. Kajiwara is moved by the chef’s “dream promised to a friend,” after the chef returned to Japan penniless when that friend fell ill, despite having successfully run a ramen shop in the United States.
At a live bar where customers can sing using the instruments in the shop, the owner, who handles singing, performing, and serving all by himself, passionately sings a song by Kajiwara’s close friends, The Blue Hearts! Kajiwara is amazed by his energy as he continues singing even past the age of 80.
A multitalented female owner who is both a jazz vocalist and the proprietress of a small Japanese-style eatery, and who once also enjoyed figure skating. She opened her shop because there is a dish she wants everyone to try… Her gyoza, passed down directly from her mother-in-law, is filled with the very story of the life she has lived!
