The Restaurant on Closing Day, Part 1
We went to the restaurant on its final day. We took photos where we could, so we’re leaving them here as an archive.

Before 6 p.m., the parking lot was almost full.

There were several groups waiting.

It seems they had been crowded for days, so they were asking customers to limit their stay to 90 minutes.

There was a gachapon machine for the cat serving robot at the entrance.

At some point, self-checkout had become the standard.

The sign-in sheet used when there was a waiting line.

This was placed around the waiting area. Maybe some kind of turkey-like object?
We’ll continue after the memories and comments from Nishitsu readers.
Comments from Nishitsu Readers to “Gusto”
It feels kind of lonely… It had been there since I was little, so maybe around 40 years? 😭 Thinking about it that way, I feel like I always took it for granted that it would be there. I’d been going since the Skylark days, so I have so many memories… When I think of the Koshimizu branch, I remember them saying, “Please help yourself to the drink bar!” while waiting for takeout.

I used to work part-time at Gusto Koshimizu. I was very sad to hear it was closing. When I first started working there, I was shy and full of anxiety, but it was a bright, lively workplace. The manager, the part-time staff, and the other part-timers around my age were all so kind, and it was a truly rewarding place to work. I feel like I am who I am today because I was able to work at Gusto. Thank you very much.

The staff at Gusto Koshimizu all had such wonderful smiles and were so considerate! We often stopped by on the way home from my child’s lessons. For my children, this Gusto was a truly special place, so it makes us very sad. To all the staff at Koshimizu Gusto who always welcomed us with smiles and kindness, thank you for everything!

It’s lonely. I had been going there often since it was still Skylark. I remember stretching my budget with my very first part-time paycheck and going there with a friend for the first time. I’d like to go again before it closes. Thank you for the information.

I’d been going there since I was a child, so it feels lonely. The nearby Kentucky Fried Chicken and photo shop are gone now too.

I’m a 55-year-old guy, and back then the only family restaurant open late at night was the Skylark on Route 171. I remember going after 10 p.m. and staying until the middle of the night, drinking endless coffee refills. The Skylark on Inaichi… I’m sure everyone has all kinds of memories. Thank you for everything.

It’s Pancho.
My house is nearby, so oddly enough I didn’t go there very often. But it was part of the scenery fixed in my mind every day, and it also served as a landmark. I’m disappointed that the next place will be a Gyomu Super. I wish they had made it a roadside station for Nishinomiya. I think lots of riders would gather there.

I worked there about three years ago. I handled lunchtime deliveries, and because it was during COVID, there were so many orders and I remember it being really tough. But all the senior staff were kind, and it was a very fun workplace. It was always full of customers, so why is it closing?

Cannot Nishinomiya
What? It’s closing next month in March? That’s too bad. I visited there back in 2006 too.

I’m actually at Gusto Koshimizu right now. The ladies on staff here always speak to you so kindly, and in terms of service I think it’s on the level of a fine-dining restaurant. This was also the first place I came for a solo lunch with my child after I started parenting. Of course, I’m here with my daughter now too, and the service is still wonderful 😭 Especially Ito-san! Thank you for your kind and attentive service 😭 I’m sure you have many fans! Thank you for everything!

Please build a family restaurant nearby
The delivery staff member? who sometimes came in as in-store staff gave very polite service.

Customers have been saying sadly, “I was planning to go after the graduation and completion ceremonies were over…” We are full of gratitude to everyone who has used our restaurant for so many years. Some people may come without knowing that we are closing, so we would appreciate it if you could post this as an announcement.

When explaining directions for work, it was the landmark on Route 171.

On the day I left my hometown and moved to Nishinomiya, I didn’t know any of the nearby shops, so I thought, “For now, let’s go to Gusto, since I know it from back home!” and went with the family who had come to see me off. I still clearly remember eating there while feeling both excited about my new life and lonely about leaving my family. About 10 years have passed since then, and I’ve used the restaurant several times. Everyone served us so politely. Thank you very much!

I had used this place often since I was a child. I thought it was only natural that Skylark would always be there. On its final business day today, I visited for lunch in the afternoon and had a hamburger steak lunch while thinking back on all kinds of memories from the past. It was very delicious! Thinking that it won’t be there from tomorrow makes me feel far too lonely… Thank you for all the memories until now! m(_ _)m
