What is the “Fude Festival”?
It’s a traditional Japanese event where people give thanks to writing tools they’ve used for many years and hold a memorial service for them, such as through ritual burning🖌️ In Japan, there has long been a culture of treasuring tools based on the belief that “a spirit dwells in tools once they have served their purpose,” and brushes, needles, and similar items have been respectfully memorialized with gratitude at shrines and temples〜
Things you can do on the day↓

- Receive a prayer for academic success and improved learning ability✨

Finally
Matsubara Tenmangu Shrine in Nishinomiya is said to be a place where Sugawara no Michizane, the deity of learning, stopped by on his way to Dazaifu in Kyushu after being drawn in by the beauty of the scenery. It seems he came to be enshrined there because of that connection. Who knew it had that kind of history!😳 The Fude Festival brings together both “gratitude” and “fun.” With food stalls and stage events too, why not casually stop by?〜🌸
