There’s been an update about “Kurukuru,” the white and light-blue bird (budgerigar) who went missing a little after 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, 5/14.
To recap:
Kurukuru went missing from the owner’s home in Izumi-cho.

The bird’s name is Kurukuru.
Kurukuru has a white body with a pale blue back.
- Talks a lot, saying things like “Kurukuru” and “Suki suki”
- Will perch on your shoulder, but isn’t very comfortable being touched
Where Kurukuru went missing↓
- Around 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, 5/14, in Izumi-cho, Nishinomiya City
Of course, Kurukuru may still be in Izumi-cho, but nearby areas like Omaehama Park, Maehama-cho, Ohama-cho, Koroen, and Hama-cho are also possible! There’s also a chance Kurukuru flew as far as Nishinomiyahama. Birds can fly surprisingly far, so if you’re anywhere in southern Nishinomiya, we’d really appreciate it if you could keep an eye on the sky and bushes〜🙏
After we published that article,
There was a sighting on Thursday, 5/29, in front of Tsuto Elementary School, of a bird that looked like Kurukuru.
When we checked with the owner, they said it looked similar but might be a little different. Still, they were very grateful for the sighting information!
Then, a month and a half later, on Thursday, July 17

We received that tip!

Here it is on the map↓
The address is 9-10 Tsuto Ogomachi, Nishinomiya City, Hyogo Prefecture.
Since the person who found the bird had urgent business and hadn’t yet been able to get in touch with the owner, Shachomi also hurried over to the Nishinomiya branch of Netz Toyota Zona Kobe.

When we went inside〜〜

Kurukuru was there〜〜〜〜〜! And the person who found Kurukuru had even bought food.
When they fed Kurukuru, the bird apparently ate a ton, pecking away happily〜〜

They bought the food at Royal Home Center, located diagonally across the street.
Here’s how Kurukuru was found

Apparently Kurukuru had landed on this cool-looking car. That feels like good luck, so if anyone wants it, head over to the Nishinomiya branch of Netz Toyota Zona Kobe〜〜〜

The Nishinomiya branch of Netz Toyota Zona Kobe normally closes at 6:00 p.m., but they waited until just before 7:00 in case the owner might come. And not just one person, four staff members waited〜

Actually, we had only been communicating with the owner by email, and at this point we still couldn’t reach them, so we decided to temporarily keep Kurukuru at the Nishitsu office. We showed this on Instagram Live. By the way, this impressive birdcage was kind of like a hidden treasure from Shachomi’s house. It had been sitting at the office because she was planning to sell it on Mercari. It made us wonder if she had kept it all this time just for this day.

We kept Kurukuru at the office for a while and waited for an email from the owner.

It came! We got an email back from the owner〜〜〜. Finally, Kurukuru could go home〜〜〜😭

We had only spent a few hours with Kurukuru, but somehow it felt really sad to say goodbye, while also being so happy. With all those mixed feelings, the owner came to pick Kurukuru up〜

The moment Kurukuru was placed back into the birdcage the owner had kept all this time since the bird went missing!! (Inside the car, so Kurukuru wouldn’t escape again) We’re so glad〜〜〜〜😭 Good for you, Kurukuru! And good for the owner too!
The owner also contacted us on Nishitsu’s Instagram post announcing that Kurukuru had been found.
I’m Kurukuru’s owner, the one who asked for information. It was late that same night, but I was able to come pick Kurukuru up. At first, I contacted Nishinomiya Tsushin with hope, but by now that hope had turned into resignation… Even so, I kept looking through the trees in nearby parks, and on days with heavy rain or extreme heat, I felt nothing but regret. When I received your message… I don’t think there are many parakeets that would go missing in the same Nishinomiya area at around the same time… Still, the beak and the feathers around the belly seem just a little different, and there hasn’t been any talking or chirping at all. It hurts to think about what kind of life Kurukuru had outside the cage for these past two months… but I want to take care of Kurukuru at home, slowly and carefully, until the very end.
Thank you so much for everything.
The next morning, we received an email from the owner along with a photo.

By chance, I was also able to get in touch with the person at the dealership who rescued Kurukuru. I was shocked because it turned out to be someone I know.
Thank you so, so much for everything.
We’re so glad〜〜〜. Case closed!
Or so we thought,
but there’s something that’s been on our mind
