An Unexpected Encounter in Koshienguchi

Just after 9 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16. While heading south from the north ticket gate of Koshienguchi Station…
Wait, what is that!?
There was a creature walking heavily, step by step, beside a garage, with a Garfield-like shape! Its fur color looked a bit like a Shiba Inu, but its tail wasn’t like a raccoon’s. Its legs were thick, and it looked kind of like a cat, but also not really…
I couldn’t help following it〜🚲
It looked back with a face like, “Huh? You’re following me?” and picked up the pace. Cute. But slow. lol
Where it headed was… of all places, “Manbo Tunnel”!
It went inside, then hopped into the gutter as if thinking, “Oh, there’s a gutter here!” (imagined). But it was a dead end. It started scrambling around like, “Oh no. I’m stuck.”💦
I passed right above it while pushing my bicycle. It looked at me, stood up on its hind legs, opened its eyes wide…thump thump thump thump…….I saw its face clearly. After getting home, I searched for images of badgers and thought, “Yep, that’s it!!!”
And it looked just like the photo of the sighting on the mountain side that I saw on Nishitsu!
So yes, there was a badger in Koshienguchi. It was really there〜. Where is its feeding spot…? I haven’t seen it since, but it might show up again!?

Lastly
There have been more reports of badger sightings lately. But seeing one in Manbo Tunnel of all places was a surprise〜. From what it looked like, they’re cautious and will run away, but they can be pretty aggressive, so please keep your distance if you spot one〜
