This year, the Christmas tree lighting ceremony at Shukugawa Station was held again on November 29, so I went to take a look.
Scenes from the lighting ceremony
The location is next to the taxi stand at Shukugawa Station. Unlike usual, a lot of people had gathered.
Lots of children were there. Maybe they were going to sing something.
Mayor Ishii also came by.
Once the greetings were over, it was finally time to switch on the lights!
Here’s the moment the lights came on, in video!
This year’s Christmas tree
Here’s what the lit-up Christmas tree looks like.
Actually, the snowman is new this year.
This event, which has continued since 1948, has now reached its 78th edition this year.
When will the lights be on?
November 29, 2025 – early hours of December 25, 2025
What time are the lights on?
From 17:00 to 24:00
*However, on December 24 and 25, the lights will reportedly stay on all night.
In closing
It’s amazing that this lighting ceremony has continued for 78 years. I’m sure the founders, Mr. and Mrs. Ohara, would be happy to see it. Be sure to stop by on your way home from school or work.
