It looks like major renovation work will be carried out at Nishinomiya Civic Hall (Amity Baycom Hall).
Quoted from About the Major Renovation Work at Nishinomiya Civic Hall | Nishinomiya City Website
According to the city’s announcement, the facility opened in 1967 and has been around for about 60 years. While partial renovations have been carried out over the years, the equipment has aged and the facilities have become outdated in terms of functionality, so a large-scale renovation will now be undertaken.
Due to the construction work, it appears the hall will be closed from around February 2028 to June 2029. During this approximately year-and-a-half period, the entire facility will be unavailable for use.
Here it is on the map↓
The address is 10-11 Rokutanjicho, Nishinomiya City, Hyogo Prefecture.
The planned renovation work looks like this↓
- Exterior wall repairs and rooftop waterproofing
- Interior and fitting updates
- Restroom renovations (Western-style toilets, dry flooring, and additional hall restrooms)
- Electrical equipment upgrades
- Air conditioning and mechanical equipment upgrades
- Stage equipment upgrades
- Exterior grounds improvements, etc.
According to the city’s plan, discussions about a future rebuild and similar options are still further down the road, so for the time being, the city will address the facility’s needs through this renovation. Detailed construction schedules will be announced once they are finalized.

Final Thoughts
Amity Hall, a venue for the city’s cultural activities, includes an 1,180-seat hall, meeting rooms, galleries, and more. It has been used for all kinds of commemorative ceremonies, presentations, lectures, stage events, and other occasions over the years, but it’s already been about 60 years since it first opened. The neighboring City Hall also had floor waterproofing work done a few years ago, and a natural grass park has been created in front of the main government building too. It’s nice to see the area gradually getting updated😄
