Turns out it’s an EV charging station just for Teslas! Apparently it’s called a Supercharger.

Looks like this EDION is the only one in Nishinomiya.
It seems charging can be done in 15 minutes. Not quite as quick as filling up with gas, but still pretty fast, right?
Apparently, you can vote on or suggest locations for Superchargers. Maybe a suggestion from someone who wanted to shop at EDION while charging got approved.
Under Japanese law, fully autonomous driving isn’t possible yet, but apparently once regulations allow it, the cars can be updated! Looks like we’re entering an era where cars get updates just like iPhones.
