The opening date for “Koshikiiwa Center(formerly Koshikiiwa Public Hall, etc.),” currently being rebuilt in Hinodeike-cho, has been postponed.

It was originally scheduled to open this December, but it appears the opening has been postponed until February 2027 or later.
The reason is a shortage in the supply of some construction materials due to the situation in the Middle East. The city and the contractor are looking into alternative materials and revising the construction schedule, but there is still a possibility of further delays.
Because of this, the briefing session for regular-use reservations, which had been planned for around summer, will also be postponed.

So, what exactly is Koshikiiwa Center?

Koshikiiwa Center is a new local community hub that will bring together and redevelop the Koshikiiwa Public Hall, the Koshikiiwa Branch of the Central Library, and the Koshikiiwa Fire Brigade vehicle garage, all of which were originally located here, into one combined facility.

The glass-walled design looks really cool✨
What will you be able to do there?
Quoted from Notice Regarding Koshikiiwa Center | Nishinomiya City Website
The building will have three floors. It looks like the 1st floor will have a community exchange space and lunch room, the 2nd floor will have a library, study space, and rental rooms, and the 3rd floor will have a multipurpose hall and lobby.
Visitors will apparently be able to read books anywhere inside the building, and it will also be easier to use the facility for dining and commercial purposes. It sounds like it will be a casual, easy-to-use space for reading, socializing, meetings, events, and more. Cashless payment and expanded parking are also planned.

Finally
There are probably many people who used the old Koshikiiwa Public Hall before it was rebuilt. With various circumstances affecting the schedule, it looks like completion will take a little longer, but having a new community hub should be something for nearby residents to look forward to. If you’re interested, why not join the workshop?
