On this day,
and
were wandering around looking for a place to eat and stumbled upon this cafe… When we peeked in from outside, everyone was smoking (^^ゞ
We decided to believe the almost urban-legend-like saying that cafes where smoking is allowed apparently serve great coffee… and went to 『珈琲屋 ドリーム』(#^.^#)

What We Had and the Menu at 『珈琲屋 夢(ドリーム)』
Fresh lemon squash (the kind where you add gum syrup afterward for sweetness; the refreshing lemon bursts in your mouth together with the fizzy soda) and Café Java (a harmony of foamed milk and chocolate, easy to drink even for people who aren’t big fans of coffee)

At the back of the cafe, there’s the sign from before the move, which appeared as a setting in “The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya” ↓ They’ve apparently been open for 4 years at the current location, and about 36 years if you include the time before the move (^_^)v

There was artwork by an artist (?) displayed inside the cafe (^_^)v ← I wasn’t able to photograph that
Near the entrance, they were roasting coffee beans.

Cafes where smoking is allowed have become quite rare lately, haven’t they? So when I stepped inside, it had that nostalgic cafe smell from my student days… It almost felt like slipping back in time (*^^)v

Final Thoughts
The cafe we happened to find while wandering around Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi turned out to be 『珈琲屋 夢(ドリーム)』, one of the places featured in “The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.”
I didn’t know that until I got back to the office and Daa-san told me, “That place is a sacred spot.” The customers that day seemed like regulars enjoying coffee and conversation, so I honestly had no idea.
The time we covered it on Nishitsu was in “Trying the ‘The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya’ Anime Sacred Spots Stamp Rally” ^_^;
Even though it was my first visit, it felt somehow nostalgic ← and the mama-san’s smile was wonderful too (^_^)v
Whether you’re particular about visiting sacred anime spots or not, why not stop by?
