It feels like more and more Indian and Nepalese restaurants have been opening around Nishinomiya lately, and this restaurant is one of them, having opened about five years ago.
It is basically a naan and curry restaurant, but what makes it stand out is that there are plenty of variations not only for the curries, but also for the naan.
Aiming for the seventh stamp on the “Kurakuen Passport,” I visited this restaurant this time.

Food at “New Taj Mahal Everest Kurakuen”
From the lunch menu, I decided to try the “Cheese Naan Set” (1,200 yen), which was marked as the most popular item.
It is a set that comes with salad, cheese naan, curry, and a drink.

First, the salad was brought out.
It was a very standard salad with cabbage, cucumber, tomato, and other vegetables.

And here are the cheese naan and curry.
For the curry, you can choose from butter chicken curry, keema curry, and aloo palak. This time, I chose the butter chicken curry.
You can also choose the spice level from six levels, 0 to 5. Level 2 is apparently the standard level.
I like my curry a little spicy, so I went with level 3, medium spicy.
The cheese naan is filled with plenty of cheese, making it very satisfying.
The butter chicken curry was delicious, with the flavors of slow-cooked chicken and butter really standing out.
The flavor of the cheese brought out the wheatiness of the naan and the flavor of the curry, and it was easy to see why this is the most popular choice.
The cheese makes the spiciness a little milder, so if you like spicy food, you might want to try level 4 or 5.

For my after-meal drink, I chose hot chai.
Chai is Indian milk tea made by simmering milk, sugar, and ginger, but perhaps to suit Japanese tastes, the ginger flavor was a little toned down.

And I successfully got my seventh stamp!
Just a little more to go until completion.
