“Kodaruma” is an izakaya chain with many locations across the Kansai area, and in Nishinomiya there are two shops on the south side of Imazu Station.
Although it’s an izakaya, it’s especially known for its kushikatsu, and they’ve been offering kushikatsu takeout for some time.
This time, I picked up some kushikatsu from “Kodaruma” to enjoy with a drink at home.

They also have good-value assorted sets, but this time I bought 9 individual skewers.
They were “beni shoga” (pickled red ginger) (80 yen), “quail egg” (80 yen), “ham and cheese” (120 yen), “tsukune” (chicken meatball) (120 yen), “shiitake mushroom” (100 yen), “asparagus” (100 yen), “young chicken tulip” (150 yen), “beef katsu” (150 yen), and “pork katsu” (120 yen).
Sauce is included, so you’re fine even if you don’t have any sauce at home.
Of course, it’s different from eating them freshly fried, but I think they’re still plenty enjoyable at home. And above all, the best part of takeout is that there’s no “no double-dipping in the sauce” rule.
Kushikatsu really calls for beer, so for the first time in a while I got to enjoy a very tasty beer with it.
