A regular feature called “Nishitsu Survey (Temporary Name)(we might run a survey to decide this name too),” where we turn “a quick question for readers + results from the previous question” into an article👏 Updated every Friday at 8 p.m.
(Hiratsu runs surveys too. This is a project inspired by Hirakata Tsushin.)
This article is brought to you by “chotto,” a smoothie specialty shop that supports Nishitsu.
The Previous Survey Was
“What do you call McDonald’s?”

Survey period: April 23–April 28
Number of responses: 122
As expected, no one called it “Donald,” but I wonder if anyone uses any other unusual names.
Let’s take a look at the results~
Survey Results: “What do you call McDonald’s?”
Here’s what Nishitsu readers as a whole said↓

About 70% said “Makudo,” about 20% said “Makku,” and around 10% said either “McDonald’s” or something else.
In Osaka, it feels like 100% of people say “Makudo,” but this is Nishinomiya after all, so there are definitely a fair number of “Makku” people too.
Now let’s see if there are any differences by age group.
Under 30s

Among teens and people in their 20s, “Makudo” was the most common.
30s

People in their 30s had the highest share of “Makku” among all age groups.
40s

People in their 40s were close to the overall average.
50s and Older

Across every generation, “Makudo” made up the majority. McDonald’s-related stories are at the bottom of the page, so please take a look after answering the next survey<m(__)m>
