Nishinomiya City Fire Bureau has introduced a system called “Live119” that lets people send live footage from their smartphones at the scene.

It was introduced on October 1. Apparently, this is the first full-scale introduction of the system by a municipality in the Hanshin area. Nishinomiya is amazing.

It’s a system that allows smartphone video to be shared before an ambulance or fire engine arrives.

All you have to do is access the URL sent to you by text message, so there’s no need to download an app.
The benefits of “Live119”
Because footage can be shared and assessed, it can help with things that are difficult to explain verbally, such as identifying the location or giving guidance on CPR.

Most of us don’t often call 119 emergency services (and hopefully we won’t need to), but if you can remember that there’s a system called “Live119” in an emergency, it might help you respond calmly.
