We went to see the grand festival at Yakujin-san again this year.
Maybe because it was so cold that snow was fluttering down from the morning, and after noon there was rain mixed with snow, there really weren’t many people out.

Here’s what it looked like in front of Hankyu Mondo-Yakujin Station.

The traffic restrictions seemed pretty relaxed too.

This is what it looked like in front of the main hall.

There were hardly any people on the approach, at the purification fountain, or around the places for charms and goma fire rituals…
Mondo-Yakujin has several free parking lots for visitors, and they can fill up on weekends in January and February, so maybe people are managing to spread out their visits well.
I overheard some elementary school kids talking about looking for candied apples at the food stalls, and it made me feel kind of sad.
I couldn’t help wishing that lively festivals would come back soon ^^;
