Solo Lunch at Piccolo Curry on the 1st Floor of Nishinomiya Hankyu

I had a solo lunch at “Piccolo Curry” on the 1st floor of Nishinomiya Hankyu.

This is the “Piccolo W Sauce Curry” for 990 yen (tax included).

On the left is “Piccolo Beef Curry”, and on the right is “Spicy Beef Curry”, so you can enjoy two flavors on one plate😋

First, I tried the “Piccolo Curry” on the left〜♡
Apparently, “Piccolo Curry” is made by simmering beef, aromatic vegetables, fruit, and more than 10 kinds of spices in their special roux, letting it rest overnight, then finishing it with cumin, fresh cream, and butter.
It’s a deeply flavorful curry with plenty of spice😊 It has spices, but it’s not spicy-hot. If anything, you can really taste the sweetness of the vegetables〜♡
It’s that nostalgic flavor I used to eat underground in Umeda with my mom when I was little. It brought back memories〜.

There’s such a big piece of beef inside😍

Next up is the “Spice Curry” on the right. This one is about medium spicy, with a noticeable spice kick.
It’s perfect for me, since I want a little heat but can’t handle anything too spicy〜!

This roux also has beef in it〜. The meat isn’t fatty at all, so it’s super light and easy to eat😍

It also came with pickled rakkyo and fukujinzuke.

All the seats are counter seats, so it’s perfect when you want to grab a quick meal alone〜.

Final Thoughts

Piccolo Curry was founded in 1973（Showa 48）, and they’ve apparently been preserving the same flavor for about 50 years. There are five locations in Osaka, including Umeda and Namba, but outside Osaka, this Nishinomiya Hankyu location is the only one! It’s pretty rare that you can only eat it in Nishinomiya outside Osaka😊 With counter seating and quick service, it’s also perfect when you want a quick bite while shopping. There were lots of customers buying takeout too〜.
