With the “1st Hannishi Bar” event coming up this weekend, we’ve been making our way around Hanshin Nishinomiya for our 3,000-yen izakaya challenge.
This time, we visited the seafood tavern “魚日和.”
As the name suggests, it’s an izakaya centered on fish.
It’s a relatively new place that Nishitsu also covered when it first opened.
Here’s the article↓
So, did we manage to clear the 3,000-yen mark this time?

Challenge Start!

First up is the “Asahi Draft Beer” (380 yen).

This is the appetizer served at the start.
Today’s appetizer is “salmon sushi” (300 yen).

Second beer.
Time to order some food, and of course, we want to go with fish.

So we went with this “salt-grilled kama” (480 yen).
It’s sea bream collar.
The head is the tastiest part of sea bream, isn’t it?

Already on the third beer.

Next, we ordered the “Fish Kushikatsu (4 skewers) with homemade tartar sauce” (480 yen).
You don’t get many chances to eat fish kushikatsu, so it felt unexpectedly fresh and interesting.
The homemade tartar sauce was excellent too.

One more drink while eating the kushikatsu…
Now then, this should be about the right time.
Let’s ask for the bill.
Last time we came in well under budget, so this time we tried to get right up to the limit again, but…
Here’s the result!!
Ta-da!!
3,000 yen!!!!!!
There it is!!!
A perfect score!! (Not that there’s actually a prize.)
Well, it finally happened.
I’d always wanted to pull this off once, and I managed it sooner than expected.
I’ll keep aiming for another exact total next time too.
This time we ordered: Asahi Draft Beer x 4, appetizer, salt-grilled kama, and Fish Kushikatsu (4 skewers) with homemade tartar sauce.
That was it!!
Hannishi Seafood Tavern “魚日和” Menu

As expected, the seafood dishes are plentiful.
They also have a strong selection of sake, and it looks like you can keep a bottle of shochu there too.
It’s also nice that draft beer is relatively affordable at 380 yen.
Inside Hannishi Seafood Tavern “魚日和”
The restaurant has both counter seats and table seating.

These are the counter seats.
You can’t really tell from the photo, but the kitchen is in the center, with the counter seats arranged around it.

The table seating looks like this.
Since it’s a new restaurant, everything is still sparkling clean.
This restaurant was opened by the representative of the company behind “Koshien Teppan Meshi,” and it’s apparently operated under contract by the Koshien yakitori restaurant “hen鶏 ながら.”
It’s interesting to see a steak restaurant and a yakitori restaurant teaming up to run a seafood izakaya.
Exterior of Hannishi Seafood Tavern “魚日和”

This is what the exterior looks like.
It’s a new restaurant that opened in April this year, so many people may still not be used to seeing it here.
There used to be a ramen shop in this location.

Look for the large sign, lanterns, and sake barrels.
It has a lively feel to it.
