We’re currently collecting responses to our “What’s your favorite karaage shop in Nishinomiya?” survey. We’re planning to publish all the results at some point, but first, we’d like to introduce three especially unique karaage picks from the answers we’ve received♪
(This is a tribute project inspired by Hirakata Tsushin, who are also running a survey.)
Three Unique Picks from “What’s your favorite karaage shop in Nishinomiya?”
Here are three shops selling karaage with a bit of personality.
“Kurotoya” at Hankyu Nishinomiya Gardens
This is a restaurant specializing in jinenjo grated yam tororo rice bowls, located in the food court on the 1st floor of Hankyu Nishinomiya Gardens.

Kurotoya
A one-of-a-kind seasoning you won’t find anywhere else. It also goes perfectly with the jinenjo grated yam tororo.

The tororo comes on the side, and the karaage, prepared in two stages with an original soy sauce-based marinade, is seriously delicious✨

“Toripuro” at LaLaport Koshien
A yakitori and karaage specialty shop located near the entrance by Ito-Yokado on the 1st floor of LaLaport Koshien♪

Toripuro
The chicken skin chips are super crispy and totally addictive. I can’t make them at home, so I end up buying them again every once in a while.

They just reopened after renovations on December 1. I wonder if they’re still selling the chicken skin chips?
Kaba no Oshiri
A Taiwanese castella shop along National Route 2, across from the Koshien Honwaka Shopping Street.

Kaba no Oshiri
Kaba no Oshiri’s Taiwanese fried chicken, Da Ji Pai. It comes in two flavors: Taiwanese style and savory salt. The five-spice powder is irresistible! I buy both and eat them about once a week.
