There’s a soba restaurant called “馳走侘助” near Shukugawa Station (apparently it’s a sister restaurant of the Ashiya soba shop “土山人”).
It’s not in a particularly noticeable location, but it’s a place loved mainly by locals.
We heard they have a variety of menu items besides soba, so this time we visited during lunchtime.
馳走「侘助」Cuisine
We ordered the lunchtime-only “侘助膳” (1,800 yen).
For an additional 200 yen, you can change the soba to “sudachi soba.”
Since we were there, we decided to try the “sudachi soba.”

This is the “侘助膳.”

This is the “sudachi soba.”
It’s a warm soba dish.
As you can see, it was a refreshing soba with plenty of sudachi aroma and tartness.
The flavor of the sudachi doesn’t overpower the taste of the soba.
It was very delicious.

This is “pork and Chinese cabbage simmered in white sesame.”
Pork and Chinese cabbage really go well together.
The savory aroma of sesame adds a nice accent.

This is “tempura of sillago fish and pumpkin.”
It was fried very crisp and tasted great.
Soba restaurants and tempura are a golden combination, after all.

This is “seasoned rice with salmon and grilled daikon radish.”
It has a light seasoning that lets you taste the flavor of the salmon, just the right balance.
There were also small side dishes: “lotus root dressed with aonori,” “shungiku and thin fried tofu ohitashi,” and “persimmon with walnuts.”
It was a good-value lunch where you could fully enjoy the soba while also tasting other dishes, and it left us nicely full.
馳走「侘助」Menu

This is the menu.
They have a wide variety of items besides soba.
It looks like they also offer kaiseki meals.
They have a good selection of drinks, too.
Inside 馳走「侘助」
Inside, there are table seats and tatami seating.

This is what it looks like just inside the entrance.

The restaurant is divided into several rooms, each with a few tables.

This is the tatami seating.
This area is a private room.
Exterior of 馳走「侘助」

This is what the outside of the restaurant looks like.
There is a sign and a noren curtain, but they don’t stand out that much, so you might miss it if you’re not paying attention.
