Recap of What Happened Before
- Thu. 7/17: A white and light blue parakeet was rescued at Netz Toyota Nishinomiya
- “We found Kurukuru!” → But the next day, it was revealed that it was actually a different bird
- Information about “Piyo-chan” from Kamikoshien was posted on a lost pet website.
[7/26] The real owner was finally found!
The first person who found the bird, 犬と散歩とゴミ拾い, happened to come across a flyer.
Email from 犬と散歩とゴミ拾い, the first finder
One night while walking my dog and picking up trash (using the Pirika app, which has appeared on Nishitsu many times), I found a flyer for Piyo-chan on a bulletin board along a route I often take in Kamikoshien 5-chome.

I emailed Kurukuru-chan’s owner. I also left Kuwa-san a voicemail and sent a text message.
Email received from Mayu-san (Kurukuru’s owner)
Finally, we were able to get in touch with Piyo-chan’s owner.
Last night, I received an email from the person who first rescued the bird at Netz Toyota. Apparently, a flyer had been posted near the area where Piyo-chan went missing. The owner’s contact information was written on it. It seems they also contacted the owner, and this morning I received an email from the owner. We also spoke by phone, and it looks like Piyo-chan can be handed over this evening.I’m so glad. This really is thanks to Nishitsu.
My name is Kuwa. On July 15, I accidentally let my white and blue budgerigar get away, and I had been putting up lost bird flyers. Late at night on July 25, I received an email from the first person who found “Kurukuru-chan” (犬と散歩とゴミ拾い), who gave me the contact information for Kurukuru-chan’s owner. So the next evening, on the 26th, I went to their home in Izumi-cho to pick up the bird. It was indeed the parakeet I had been looking for, Piyo-chan.
While walking their dog, they saw the flyer asking for information about the lost bird and contacted me.
Once again, I was deeply moved to hear how kindly the first finder, everyone at the Toyota dealership, and Shachomi-sama treated Piyo-chan.
The Day of the Handover
- Apparently, Piyo-chan started singing loudly the moment they were moved into the car
- Piyo-chan was also reunited with a 14-year-old father parakeet and a 6-year-old younger brother parakeet

When I reunited with Piyo-chan after such a long time, Piyo-chan just looked blank and barely changed expression. But when I transferred Piyo-chan into the cage I had brought from home and placed it in our car, which Piyo-chan sometimes rides in, it was as if a switch had flipped. It felt like Piyo-chan realized, “I can go home!” and started crying out loudly. It was painful and lonely to leave Kurukuru-chan’s owner, who had cared for Piyo-chan so lovingly for more than a week as if Piyo-chan were Kurukuru-chan, but they gave us a warm send-off.
I was also surprised that Piyo-chan had flown from home, through what seemed to be an expressway or under an elevated road, toward the car dealership.
Thanks to the kindness of so many people, Piyo-chan returned home with only a small scrape on the nose, and is now slowly continuing rehabilitation and has become much healthier. The two parakeets living with Piyo-chan, a 14-year-old foster father and a 6-year-old younger brother, had also been down, but after seeing Piyo-chan’s face, they seemed relieved and are gradually returning to their normal lives.

Thank you very much to everyone for all your help.
I also sincerely hope from the sidelines that Kurukuru-chan, who looks so much like Piyo-chan that they could be siblings, is safe and able to return home. Kuwa
Two parakeets that looked this much alike both went missing in Nishinomiya. Then, by chance, the first finder, “犬と散歩とゴミ拾い,” happened to pass by, leading to Toyota, then Shachomi, and then Mayu-san taking the bird in.
And then that very first finder, 犬と散歩とゴミ拾い, happened to discover the flyer posted by the real owner.
I’m amazed by how one coincidence led to another. It really makes me believe that connections between people are real.
Final message from Mayu-san, Kurukuru-chan’s owner
Unfortunately, it wasn’t Kurukuru, but so many coincidences overlapped this time, and I was able to meet and connect with so many kind people. It became a precious experience. I think of this as a gift that Kurukuru brought to me, and I feel like I may finally be able to sort out my feelings about Kurukuru.
Thank you so much.
