There are many restaurants of all kinds around Hankyu Shukugawa Station, but surprisingly few sushi restaurants.
The place we’re introducing this time, “葵,” is a long-established sushi restaurant that has been in Shukugawa for 30 years.
It’s not on a main street, so it has a bit of a hidden-gem feel, and you can enjoy sushi in a relaxed atmosphere.
They’re also open for lunch, so this time we stopped by during lunchtime.

Sushi and Seasonal Cuisine “葵” Food
There are several lunch options, but I ordered the classic “Sushi Set Meal.”
This is the “Sushi Set Meal” (1,000 yen).
It comes with five pieces of nigiri, sushi rolls, and red miso soup.
The toppings naturally change depending on the season and what’s available, but this is a restaurant where you’ll always find fresh, high-quality ingredients.
For example, the tuna in the photo this time was lean red tuna, but it was so fatty that for a moment I thought it might be chutoro medium-fatty tuna (you can probably tell a little from the photo too).
Also, making a beautifully cooked thick omelet is genuinely difficult, and I think it’s one of those sushi toppings where each restaurant’s personality really shows. As you can see, this one was cooked beautifully and evenly, and it was very tasty.
At 1,000 yen, this is a great deal.
