About the Temporary Change to Garbage Disposal Rules
The reason for the change is that “city-designated garbage bags are in short supply.” It seems some stores are running out, partly due to the situation in the Middle East.
However, according to the city and manufacturers, garbage bags themselves are being produced in the same quantities as usual. So even if you temporarily don’t see them in stores, they should be back on shelves before long. There’s no need to panic-buy right now.
When?
June 1 (Mon) to July 31 (Fri), 2026 ※May be extended depending on the situation
What’s Changing
Only if you cannot obtain Nishinomiya City’s designated garbage bags, you may put out garbage in non-designated bags.
However, the following cannot be used.
- ❌Bags where the contents cannot be seen
- ❌Paper bags or cardboard boxes
- ❌Garbage bags from other municipalities → This one might be easy to overlook
Important Notes
If you use Nishinomiya City’s designated garbage bags, please put them out according to the bag’s designated category.
Examples of what not to do↓
- ❌Putting burnable garbage in a “common designated bag”
- ❌Putting non-burnable garbage, used clothing, etc. in a “household burnable garbage designated bag”
These may be judged as incorrect sorting or as being put out on the wrong garbage collection day, and may not be collected.

Finally
Some people may have felt uneasy after seeing designated garbage bags sold out at supermarkets and other stores. It’sありがたい to see the city responding flexibly like this. If we can all keep in mind to leave a few behind for the next person who needs them, that might be the most peaceful approach🙏
