Near Nishinomiya Shrine along National Route 43, there’s a long-running Chinese restaurant called “中華ひるね.” Its second floor is now operated as a sister restaurant of “中華ひるね,” serving a variety of dishes from around the world.
That restaurant is “食堂せかい,” which we’re introducing today.
We heard they also serve a roast beef bowl, so we went to check it out right away.
“食堂せかい” Food
This is the “Roast Beef Bowl” (950 yen).
The sauce comes on the side, so you pour it over afterward.
Here’s what it looks like after adding the sauce.
Many restaurants top their roast beef bowls with a raw egg yolk, but this one comes with an onsen tamago soft-boiled egg.
The roast beef slices are about average in thickness, but they’re cooked fairly well toward the center and have a solid seasoning, which stands out.
While many roast beef bowls have a strongly flavored sauce, the sauce here doesn’t overpower the dish. The roast beef was tasty enough to enjoy even without the sauce.
The bowl is also deep, so it has much more volume than it looks.

“中華ひるね” is on the first floor.
It may be a little hard to spot, but there is a staircase on the left that leads up to the second floor, so head up that way.
There is also a sign at the entrance, so use this as your landmark.
