“Hakata Hanamidori,” located in Gardens Kitchen, the food court on the 1st floor of Hankyu Nishinomiya Gardens, is a rice bowl specialty shop where you can enjoy bowls made with the branded chicken “Hanamidori.”
The main shop is in Fukuoka, but they now have locations across Japan, serving “Hanamidori” in various styles while handling everything in-house, from raising the chickens to cooking them.

This time, we visited “Hakata Hanamidori Hankyu Nishinomiya Gardens” and tried their famous chicken bowl.

Chicken Bowls and Dishes at “Hakata Hanamidori Hankyu Nishinomiya Gardens”
We ordered the “Hakata Hanamidori Aburi Tokujou Oyakodon” (1,150 yen) and the “Hakata Mizutaki Half Chicken Soba Set” (410 yen).
Let’s take the lid off the bowl.
This is what it looks like.
It has the kind of presentation you might expect at a traditional Japanese restaurant, but this is in a food court.
The oyakodon features carefully seared “Hanamidori” chicken bound with egg, topped with an additional egg yolk.
The soy sauce flavor wasn’t too strong, but the dashi worked nicely and brought out the flavors of the chicken and egg.
With the fragrance of the seared chicken and the richness of the egg yolk, this is a bowl where you can really taste the deliciousness of the chicken and egg directly.
This is the “Hakata Mizutaki Half Chicken Soba Set,” which was marked on the menu as the “manager’s recommendation.”
It was a simple soup made with chicken broth and salt, but packed with rich chicken umami.
The topping is probably “Hanamidori” mizutaki chicken.
It was cooked to a moist texture without being dry.
This is only available as a set with a rice bowl and not as an individual menu item, but it was so good I’d want to order it on its own too.
