Did you know?
The oldest elementary school in Nishinomiya is Hamawaki Elementary School, founded in Meiji 5 (1872).
It was originally established inside Hoanji Temple, but in Meiji 33 (1900) it was moved to its current location.
And amazingly, the main gate from that Meiji 33 period is still standing today.
It’s along this road.
Here it is.
It’s no longer used as the main gate, but it has been carefully preserved.
There was also an information sign installed.
It really gives you a sense of Nishinomiya’s long history.
