Last time, I aimed for happy hour and managed to drink at a pretty good value, so this time I’m going to try going for happy hour again.
This time I visited “くし菜,” a kushikatsu and oden restaurant that opened last year near Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi Station.
The restaurant opens at 16:00, and from 16:00 to 18:00 it’s happy hour, so drinks are half price.
How much was I able to drink?
Challenge Start!

I’m going with beer again this time.
“The Premium Malt’s” is 390 yen, but since it’s half price, that makes it 195 yen.

For a snack, I first ordered “maguro no shutō” (salted tuna entrails) for 380 yen.
This is the kind of thing that really makes the drinks go down.

Thanks to the shutō, here’s beer number two.

Next, I ordered the “Assorted Kushikatsu Set (5 Classic Skewers)” for 650 yen.
It’s an assortment of pork, beef, onion, lotus root, and red shrimp.
There’s salt and sauce on the table, so you can use those as you like.
Freshly fried skewers really are delicious, and they go perfectly with beer.

So, while enjoying the kushikatsu, here’s beer number three…

And number four.

I ordered one more dish: “Chicken Nanban with Homemade Tartar Sauce” for 750 yen.
The juicy fried chicken and tartar sauce are a perfect match, and it’s delicious.

While eating the chicken nanban, I had beer number five.
Happy hour ends at 18:00, so I drank at a fairly quick pace…
It’s about time to pay.
How did it turn out this time?
Here’s the announcement!
This time, the total was!!
3,030 yen!!!
That was it!!
Looks like I went a little over again…
I should have chosen tako-wasa instead of the shutō at the beginning…
This time I ordered five draft beers, maguro no shutō, the assorted kushikatsu set (5 classic skewers), and chicken nanban with homemade tartar sauce.
That was the lineup.
Happy hour really is excellent value.
I’d like to keep actively going after these deals in the future!
