I went to an okonomiyaki restaurant called “ぼくのや” on Tateishi-suji, around Koroen.
It’s a long-established okonomiyaki place that’s been around for 65 years, and the current owner is apparently the third generation.
What we ate at “ぼくのや”

Mixed yakisoba \900
The cabbage and sauce are nicely mixed in with the firm, thick noodles.
There’s plenty of cabbage, so it tastes really light and keeps you reaching for more with your chopsticks.

Mixed okonomiyaki (large) ¥1,000
(The small is about a regular size.)
Ahh…
You can almost smell the sauce alreadyyyyy (^o^)丿
Apparently, the sauce changed just a little after the earthquake. These days, they blend two kinds of sauce, and almost no one notices the difference from the old sauce.

This is what it looks like before the sauce goes on.
It’s packed with tenkasu tempura bits (^_^)

Since two of us were sharing, we had them cut it down the middle. Now the question is, which side is bigger? 😀

It was so delicious that I’m really glad we went with the large instead of the small 😀
The sauce has a little bit of heat, and this is definitely the kind of thing that would be amazing eaten on top of rice (^_^)
It has that kind of flavor that makes you want another bite.

If you want mayo, be sure to order it as an extra.
Writing this article is making me miss the taste of ぼくのや all over again.
Since it’s been open for 65 years, it sounds like some people have been coming here for two generations, parent and child♪
Apparently, Mama @ Nishitsu came back for the first time in 35 years! Wow 😀
If this made you crave okonomiyaki or yakisoba, check out the video below ↓↓
