It appears that the annual “Nishinomiya Sakura Festival”, usually held at three locations in Nishinomiya City, has been canceled again this year due to the COVID-19 situation.

What is the Nishinomiya Sakura Festival?
- Kurakuen-guchi venue (riverbank southeast of Hankyu Kurakuen-guchi Station)
- Shukugawa venue (around Shukugawa Public Hall)
- Manchidani venue (Earthquake Memorial Park)
The festival is usually held at these three venues. (*It is canceled this year.)
As with last year, it seems that events involving food stalls and other vendors have been canceled this year.
At Shukugawa Riverside Green Space, drinking alcohol and holding parties are prohibited, and visitors are being asked to “enjoy the blossoms by strolling only.”

These are the cherry blossoms in front of Shukugawa Public Hall as of 3/18.

They’ve just started blooming a little 😊
Finally
The cherry blossoms along Shukugawa have also started blooming just a little.
You won’t be able to lay out a picnic blanket and enjoy a bento, but it looks like you can still enjoy hanami while taking a walk and appreciating the blossoms with your eyes 🌸
It’s a bit disappointing, but here’s hoping the festival can be held next year! 🙏
