Hankyu Railway
The online reservation service “e-teiki” is convenient!
After reserving online, you can buy your pass without waiting at the red ticket machines. For a school commuter certificate, approval can be done by having it checked at the station ticket gate or uploading a photo when making your reservation.
If you buy it at a station counter, you’ll need to go to Nishinomiya-kitaguchi Station, but around April 1 it looks like this. You may have to wait about two hours.
Hanshin Railway
Online reservations are convenient for Hanshin Railway too!
The rules have changed a little compared with last year. If the “expected graduation year” is listed, it is treated as a renewal. You can renew it as is.

Commuter pass ticket machines have been added at Mukogawa Station, Naruo Station, and Imazu Station. You can buy one without going to a counter.
JR West
Online reservations through “My Teiki” are fast!
JR also has an “online reservation” service, and it’s convenient to use.
Koshienguchi Station and Sakura Shukugawa Station do not have Midori no Madoguchi ticket offices, and if you call for assistance at a Midori ticket machine, you may have to wait a long time. Even if you want to take your time checking the details, online reservations are recommended.
Hankyu Bus, Sakura Yamanami Bus, and Hanshin Bus
The commuter pass is shared!
- With a commuter pass, you can use the Eco Outing Discount. (The one where accompanying family members can ride for 100 yen for adults and free for children.)
- If you go to school during summer vacation or ride the bus for outings, buying a School Pass for the whole year is a good deal!
- Only in April, last year’s student ID can also be used.

Kobe Electric Railway
Shintetsu is basically the same. However, for a school commuter pass, you’ll need a student ID for the new school term or a school commuter certificate. Details are here.
Other Tips
For new first-year students
- If student IDs are not handed out before enrollment, it’s best to apply for a school commuter certificate on a school attendance day or similar occasion. Public high schools seem to hand out student IDs late, and applications can take time.
For second-year students and above
- For new second- and third-year students, some companies allow you to buy a pass with your student ID and your current old commuter pass.
