A nationally famous, almost mythical cookie
I managed to buy Michelbach’s “Cookie Rose” in Shukugawa without lining up!!!

Getting a numbered ticket
When people talk about Cookie Rose, they mean those hard-to-get cookies that people line up for from early morning, and even then you might not be able to buy them.
- Line up before opening (based on Niko’s observations, people usually start lining up around 7 a.m.)
- Something like a circular notice gets passed down from the front of the line (it explains that you’ll need ID when picking up your items, and lists purchase limits such as ○ boxes per person for the 40-piece box and ○ boxes per person for the 18-piece box)
- Receive a numbered ticket (at this point, you write your name and address and tell them how many you want to buy)
- Go back to the shop at the time written on your ticket to pick up your items (show your ID)
I’ve only lined up once before, and if I remember correctly, my pickup time that day was sometime after 3 p.m. If you’re near the front of the line, I think you might be able to pick them up in the morning.
There can be quite a bit of time until pickup, so if you’re coming from far away, it might be good to plan something nearby or have a cafe or lunch spot in mind.
Or you could just go home once and come back.
So! Why was I able to buy them this time without lining up?
It was pure luck lol
That morning, around 8 a.m., I passed by Michelbach and there were only about five people lined up. I thought, “There aren’t many people waiting today.”
Then in the afternoon, I casually stopped by the shop and asked if they had Cookie Rose, and they said they still had the 18-piece boxes.
Lucky!! So I bought one without any trouble!

The Nishitsu members polished off the “mythical cookies” in no time.

If you want to eat “Cookie Rose” but don’t want to line up, why not take a chance and go straight to the shop without waiting in line!!
If you’re lucky, you might get your hands on these “mythical cookies” surprisingly easily!!

As an aside, that day we also ate the raw sweet potato from Potato Labo, which we wrote about recently, plus all kinds of sweet potato treats from “Oimoya Imowarai”, and then on top of that, we ate Cookie Rose…
I had been thinking of going out for a casual drink that day, but I got so full that it turned into a “Nope, not happening today” kind of day.
