I went to the “Koshien 100-Year Festival” held yesterday, 10/19, at Susanoo Shrine. It was raining, but I think this will be helpful for anyone planning to go today, so I’m writing it up.
Because of the rain and the fact that I arrived at 4:30 p.m., the lanterns were already lit.

At this time it was only drizzling. Around 3 p.m. it was really coming down.
They’re selling soy sauce ramen too! There are also egg senbei crackers.

This is the kind of thing that goes great with drinks! Oden! It was piping hot and really soaked through with flavor. They treated me since I was there covering the event. Thank you!
This stall was from “韓国居酒屋 チキチキバンバン” in Imazu. In addition to oden (520 yen), they had karaage fried chicken, fries, and tteokbokki (300 yen each). I tried the tteokbokki too. It had a proper kick, so give it a challenge!
Oh, there’s a stage performance going on too.
It’s Mucho, a familiar face at events around Koshien, including the “Koshien Machinaka Fest” in the plaza in front of Koshien Station. Looks like Koshien Machinaka Fest will be held on 12/1.
It seems “ほな,” a promising high school singer-songwriter from Nishinomiya, was singing too. With just an acoustic guitar, she gives off “the next Aimyon” vibes. Youtube. She’ll be performing at today’s Mukodan Kids Festa, so if you go, give her a good listen.
The festival staple yakisoba looked tasty too (500 yen).
In addition to frankfurters (200 yen), they also had draft beer, highballs, and chu-hai. Is the shrine priest trying to decide what to get too?

I heard that the “Koshien 100-Year Festival” will become an annual autumn festival. Maybe next year it’ll be the “Koshien Festival”? Today it runs from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
