What is the “1.5th Entrance Exam”?

The “1.5th entrance exam” refers to an additional exam held by private high schools immediately after the results of the first-round entrance exam are announced.

• A system that lets students try again even if they do not pass the first-round exam (one more chance before the public high school exam!)
• The difficulty level is not very different from the first round, but competition tends to be tougher because there are fewer spots
• It takes place earlier than the second-round entrance exam, which is held after public high school results are announced, making it useful for securing a private high school option as a backup
