it closed on May 12. The attached Italian goods shop “douzo iwn Shukugawa” closed on May 5.
Here’s the location on the map↓
The address is 6-15 Nishidacho, Nishinomiya, Hyogo.

Nishida Park is across the street.

If you go this way, you’ll head toward Shukugawa.

If you go in the opposite direction, you’ll head toward Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi.
Iwano Sports was a sporting goods store founded in April 1969 (Showa 44).

It had actually already closed as a sports shop, but it was still carrying items like dodgeballs and soccer balls.

They were also running a project called “Memory Map.”

The project collects memories of the town from around 1969 and turns them into a map, and it has also been featured in the Kobe Shimbun.

They’re currently preparing to make the map viewable on their website in the future. They also plan to keep updating the Memory Map, and they’re looking for more information!

Nishitsu has written about it too.

A 1969 map of the Yasui area. They want to complete it.
The Memory Map is here
It’s sad to see a shop that had been in business for 57 years since its founding in 1969 (Showa 44) disappear… I imagine quite a few people bought balls there when they played at Nishida Park as kids. Nishitsu will continue following the progress of the 1969 map of the Yasui area.
※Kaeitsu, thank you for the information!!
