As we mentioned before, “だしの店 つみ木” near Hanshin Nishinomiya has also started selling takeout bento.
What would a bento from an authentic Japanese restaurant known for its dashi be like?
Sounds exciting.
“だしの店 つみ木” Food

There are several kinds of bento available, and this time we picked up the “Hamburg Steak Bento” (900 yen).
It comes with the main hamburg steak, rice, pickles, simmered dishes, ohitashi greens, and salt-grilled Spanish mackerel.
There are plenty of items, and it looks nicely balanced too.
The hamburg steak is Japanese-style, topped with grated daikon and ponzu sauce.
Since it’s takeout, it’s cooked through properly, but it’s still very juicy with plenty of meat juices.
It goes really well with the rice.
The salt-grilled Spanish mackerel has enough presence to stand on its own as a main dish.
You could probably call the hamburg steak and Spanish mackerel the two stars of the bento.
The simmered dishes and ohitashi are lightly seasoned, but they’re very tasty and make you want to keep eating rice.
That’s exactly what you’d expect from a “dashi shop.”
Overall, it was a well-balanced and very delicious bento.
